Even at the smallest store it seems that they have plastic bags to put your purchases in. These black plastic bags are the most common and they are used for most things except for liquids which are given in clear plastic bags. Yes, tea to go is given in a plastic bag. You basically bite off the corner and drink the whole thing in one sitting. Anyway despite my inability to spot Ghanaians eating lunch, it seems that they have some foods that are reserved for that time of day. They ones that I’ve mostly eaten are rice and beans or fried yam and beans although some dinnertime foods are available around noon—in particular Kenke which I will talk about in the next section.
